The Human Resource Generalist will oversee the administration of all areas of HR functions within the organization. This growing HR team allows for tremendous opportunity to grow the scope and depth of the role. This position will support operations of the retail, head office and business divisions under the supervision of the Director, Human Resources and is based in Burnaby.

As Human Resource Generalist, you will:

  • Involvement in full spectrum of HR activities such benefits, compensation, recruiting, hiring, diversity, employee relations, HRIS, policy enforcement and tasks involved in administration of employee programs and services
  • Providing technical and other HR support to the company’s various divisions including assisting managerial staff with employee relations issues or concerns and fielding general HR questions (WCB, employee concerns, attendance management, ROE requests, benefits questions, following up on final payments, etc.)
  • Overall support of hiring including assistance to hiring managers, coordination of and attendance at interviews, references/background checks, preparing offers letters, new employee onboarding and orientation
  • Administration of STD/LTD program including assistance with applications, liaising with employees, supervisors and Manulife to facilitate return to work, administrative tracking, coordination of STD payment with payroll administrators
  • Preparation of termination package, administrative processing of terminations including management requisitions and filing
  • Preparation of monthly management reports, maintenance of organizational charts and job descriptions
  • Maintenance of Employment Equity Program
  • Administration of employment (or retainer) terms and conditions for all temporary and fixed term employees and consultants
  • Coordinating and implementing various wellness programs and other HR initiatives (such as corporate yoga, breakfast with the president, lunch and learns and other education)

 

Requirements for successful candidates:

  • At least 5 years previous progressive experience in all areas of Human resources required and specifically with employee relations  
  • Hands on experience working with all levels of managers to trouble shoot employee relations and HR questions
  • Understanding of HR business processes around onboarding, termination, STD/LTD, etc.  
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and an ability to look for creative solutions to problems
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Experience with payroll an advantage, but not required
