Retread Plant Manager (Edmonton Location)

Job Overview: Leading the Edmonton Retread Plant, the successful candidate will be responsible for manufacturing quality retread products in a timely manner for Fountain Tire stores and wholesale customers by:
  • Managing all aspects of the Retread location to ensure established operational procedures and benchmarks, company policies, and governmental regulations are communicated to Associates and adhered to.
  • Ensuring customers are satisfied with retread products and service; this includes effectively handling customer concerns when required.
  • Working with Goodyear and the Head Office Marketing Team to communicate product quality, or product void areas to serve our customers better.
  • Working with the Logistics Team to ensure suppliers deliver product in a timely manner to satisfy customer demand.
  • Picking up and delivering products to the Fountain Tire stores and wholesale customers within established time frame.
  • Researching and implementing retread manufacturing best practices; this includes leveraging and excelling at Goodyear’s retread processes and best practices (e.g. GTRACS NG, Goodyear Audit Process, etc)
  • Completing an annual budget for approval by the Marketing team; this includes forecasting revenue and expenditures, and inventory levels. Accurately track budgeted numbers throughout the fiscal year with particular attention to achieving benchmarks.
  • Ensuring the Program of Safety is implemented, adhered to and kept evergreen in retread plant, and provincial certification standards are maintained.
  • Recruiting, developing, and leading a team of Associates dedicated to providing a superior retread product in a timely manner identify and develop potential successors for all retread plant positions.
  • Ensuring Fountain Tire training programs are completed at the retread plant location for all Associates and that subject matter is applied, measured and reported. This includes completion of re-certification when required.
  • Acting as a champion for the Fountain Tire Program and Culture, including effectively implementing programs as set out by Head Office.
  • Ensuring proper maintenance and protection of retread plant facilities, vehicles, equipment, inventory and other physical assets of Fountain Tire.

  • College Diploma and 7 years of experience in a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing facility.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma training would be considered an asset.
  • Expert knowledge of manufacturing and process improvement best practices.
  • Working knowledge of financial reporting.
  • Strong computer skills with intermediate proficiency in all facts or MS Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to set goals and achieve results.
  • General mechanical ability and aptitude.
  • Exceptional communication skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective relationships.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills in order to prioritize competing demands.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and holidays.
  • Proven ability to build, develop and retain a team focused on quality manufacturing.
  • Ability to maintain a valid drivers license and provide a satisfactory drivers abstract from province of residence on an annual basis.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
